Looking for a Lionel 1666 post war engine with e-unit (the shell has a silver x in the cab). Just got it and the shell looks great, engine looks to have very little run time. I’ve checked the brushes and the armature is not shorted out. My guess is the field coil is no longer working. E unit cycles. I’ve even tried to Hotwire it, armature doesn’t even budge and no resistance to turning the wheels. EBay has a few for around 50.00. Didn’t want to spend that much for a unit that doesn’t even smoke.
