Passenger car refurbishment???

Slowly working my way through my dads collection. Everything needed cleaning and repair. Now I am on the streamline passenger cars. Nervous about cleaning the aluminum cars. How should I clean the body and end caps? Which bulb? Should I lube the axles? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick
