Passenger cars for Lionel New Haven 8851, 8852, 8864?? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all - New to the hobby....recently purchased an ABA F3 Diesel Set Lionel New Haven 8851, 8852, 8864. I believe the original set came with freight cars but wondering if there were any passenger cars that would match with this engine? Thanks

Welcome to the hobby! Suggest you check out MTH. They have made several sets of 18" New Haven passenger cars that would look nice behind your F3s.

If those F's come out in the late 1970's by MPC, I do not think they came with freight cars. These I think were the first MPC's with dual motors and Magne-Traction.

Yes, These were MPC era and were sold as a AA set and a B unit was sold separately. They were dual motored but they did not have magna traction just rubber traction tires. I really like my set and run it as a freight set just like the original postwar.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the F3's that I purchased were from the set that came out in the late 70s. Will check out the 18' MTH passenger cars
