Use your ASC tech service manual diagram to track wires from PS-2 5V to trail unit.  PV/coupler/RL/IL, Motor, Speaker, Battery if I remember correctly.  G

Yes George , I went to do that on line ,because my  printed manual doesn’t have the information , all of the service manual has been removed from the new web site , will it come back ? Unknown

Hi Fred you can also call MTH at MTH trains  and talk to Don and he can answer your questions, do you have any other engines that are the same PS 2 5 volt setup! also Don's  phone at MTH IS 443 539-1006 if it still works

It's hard to impossible to get MTH on the phone, try email.

This is not hard.  The DD uses 10 pin.  So see what is in the Slave and trace wire back to 5V with tender plugged in.  Motor to 5 Pin, Coupler to 12 pin, etc... G

Update on the dd1: I did a pinout on the A unit tether cable , it did not match the correct cable bc3140000 which I had on hand ,because of another dd1 repair I did several months ago.
So I borrowed that engine from my friend to check the B unit wires to the pcb ,so all good . I changed  the speaker and and the audio amp ., and the A unit tether cable. Now all good everything works properly . With the correct cable it works like it left the factory lol. The diesel wiring diagram doesn’t match the dd1 wiring, in the manual . It for generic diesel only , not DD1 .

fyi if you search under 20-5516-1 for DD1 it only shows the generic pd2 5 v system it doesn’t have the two cables for dd1, bc3140000, & bc3140001, However if you look in parts under DD1, the correct cables are there . MTH are you listing ?
