Hello!

I recently ordered a new MTH Passenger Station for my simple layout that is all currently Lionel plug and play accessories. I have 1 spare port in my plug and play extension and would love to be able to power this MTH accessory utilizing it.. there is almost nothing out there regarding what the power supply (or lack thereof) to this accessory looks like, so I’m just guessing at this point. Is there any reason I shouldn’t be able to rig this lionel connector to the station?

If so, what do I do with the white wire? 😵‍💫

Thanks in advance!

The MTH Passenger Station and Platforms require 10-14VAC, so you can use the Lionel plug and play if you are powering the system at these voltage levels.  If you are powering it off track command voltages (18V or higher), you should not use P&P with the station.

Use the red and black wires in the P&P cable.  Polarity does not matter here.  The white wire is only used if you are operating an accessory with an insulated track section.

Here are links to the P&P wiring manual, MTH Passenger Platform manual, and MTH Passenger Station manual.  The Station manual neglects to specify the supply voltage, but it will be the same 10-14V as the Platforms.

Thanks so much Bob, this forum continues to be an incredible resource!

I have been using the track to power the accessories, throttling all the way up then using my CAB1L or the CAB3 app to control. It sounds like I should unplug and cut the connector off of my 3-port plug and play extension and wire it to the ZW-L instead to make sure I don’t go over 14V 🤔
