Just outstanding!

That first one takes my breath away,……😮💨

Was the greyhound with the yellow stripe the only one with a glossy finish?
Any photos of the Fireman's side of the road numbers other than 844? Those other road numbers should have the Sellers Exhaust Steam injector arrangement, especially that big "sewer pipe" under the walkway on the Fireman's side.

It was the glossiest - I think the black 844 was the second most glossy finish.
OK, almost 24 hours and still no photos of the left, Fireman's, side!?!
I would like to see the FM’s side also. It appears, looking at pictures above, the numbers other than 844 MAY have the correct Sellers. There’s not an SA between stack and bell on top of boiler for those models.
841 & 843 are nice models if the Sellers is correct.

Thank you, as that was my main point. Simply removing the Worthington feedwater heating tank in front of the stack, plus the feedwater pumps would be the easy part. Adding all the Sellers piping and appliances would not be easy.
I will be shocked if they actually did THAT!
Still waiting for UP 833. It's on display in Ogden, UT. It's the 2nd generation I believe
As additional Information, here are the road numbers of the 6 FEF locomotives that the UP up-graded to the Worthington SA Feedwater system:
835, 837 (in1952), 839 (in 1956), 841 (in 1953), 843 (in 1954), and 844 (in 1955).
Well, it has been more that three days, and still no-one has been willing to post photos of the left, Fireman's, side of these models. Would that lead one to think that the models that are supposed to have the Sellers Exhaust Steam feedwater system, are NOT CORRECT?
There's A YouTube video, not sure if you can tell from it.

That video is of #844, thus it has the correct Worthington SA Feedwater system, i.e. NOT the Sellers system.
Was this a real paint scheme at one time?

Which one of the paint schemes are you asking about?
The smoke deflectors should be over the running boards. With the grey paint schemes it looks like double stripes in that that area when it should have a single stripe coming off the deflectors and continuing on the running boards. Can that be adjusted?

It was said in the video the “wind wings” weren’t in the proper location.

Right, and you can plainly see that in the close-up photos posted at the top of this thread.
Well then that makes 2 videos where they are on wrong. Hopefully someone can provide a picture with them on right. I’m kind of interested in getting the 843.

The first one, multi-colored Butterfinger looking

Well, funny you should pick that one. Actually, that scheme was developed for the UP train "The Forty Niner", but only one Pacific and one Mountain steam locomotives were ever painted that way. Thus, it is a fantasy scheme for a UP 4-8-4.
I had to pass on these bunch when the catalog came out. I had asked if 844 had come originally coal fired which according to Ryan it was. I would like to see them eventually do it coal fired(of it indeed was) in the next run.

All 45 of the UP FEF class locomotives were built and delivered as coal burners, including the last 10 FEF-3 locomotives. However, do to a possible coal miners strike, the UP converted all their 4-8-4s to oil burning in 1946.

Buy the “delivery “ version, as Lionel named it, and change the number, only decals. IF it has the Sellers System, which has yet to be proven by photos, you’re in business.
As HW pointed out, and to make it clear to others, the Lionel FEF is modeled post (after) 1946, “in service” locomotives.

In my opinion, the models will probably NOT have the Sellers Exhaust Steam Feedwater system. Also remember that the Wind Wings" where NOT on any "as delivered" UP FEF locomotives.

The models of UP #844 are not only "post 1946" but are "post 1955", when she was up-graded with the Worthington SA Feedwater system.
I was referring to 841, Lionel’s “delivery” version, coal tender, as pictured & noted in video, doesn’t have the “wind wings”. Then again, it may not have the Sellers system either. We don’t know.
Good point about “post 1955” I should’ve clarified the Worthington.
Sure would be nice if someone could show pictures of the fireman’s side of other than 844.
Hey Steve, is it possible to have a couple of photos of the fireman's side of the engine to satisfy the curiosity of some of the guys. I am guessing without the smoke deflectors so that they could see in better detail.

UP #841 was up-graded to the Worthington SA Feedwater system in 1953. So,,,,,,,,,if Lionel's "as delivered" model would have the Sellers Feedwater system, no "Wind Wings", and no Mars Red Signal light.

Here’s the “delivery” version. Waiting for confirmation on the Sellers…
Just my opinion but, I don't think that we will see ANY photos of the left (Fireman's) side posted from a dealer trying to sell these models. Maybe a private individual will post photos after he/she receives their models.

Well, there you have it folks! All Lionel did was remove the Worthington Feedwater system but, did NOT add any of the Sellers Feedwater system! So much for accurate scale models.
Thanks for providing the proof.

What’s a sellers feedwater system?
Well, I have looked up feedwater heaters and have sort of got stuck. Maybe sellers is known by another name?
This is the site I found: Steam Locomotive Feedwater Heaters
Guys....if you are going to start talking about the prototype in detail, start a thread over in the Real Trains forum please.
Got the gray FEF. Very nice engine. However, as noted, the smoke deflector alignment is challenging. The deflectors don't readily seat as the should and, if they do, seem to come out of alignment after running. The engineer's side deflector seems to seat better. Smoke is adequate though does not appear to chuff.
Also got the 2 and 4 passenger expansion packs. Nice cars. However, no people. Don't know how difficult it is to remove the bodies. Had 3 couplers open while running and had to fix them closed. Guess the springs are too weak. Diaphragms would have been nice too.
Here're some pix.

Why are the class lights green?
@Hot Water posted:Why are the class lights green?
Lionel class lights default to green, but they could be white or turned off using the legacy remote.
