Hey guys,
I'm spending the week in Pigeon forge/ Gatlinburg this week. Are there any public layouts or hobby shops around town that are worth visiting while we are here. Thanks.

Hi Josh, I know some of the shops on the main drag in Pigeon Forge had some trains in them but nothing like a hobby shop would have. If you are going to Dollywood they have a great steam train ride pulled by a mikado. Rated best train ride of any amusement park. Thanks John
Ok thanks I'll keep an eye out. There use to be a live steam loco in front of the Christmas store but I seen it was gon on my way into town today.
Go across the mountain to Cherokee and visit Bryson City. There is a model train display there and I believe a full size steam excursion train.

Yes, when I drove into Bryson City a few years ago, there was a train running . Never visited Dollywood in several trips there
Christmas store still has some electric No. 1 gauge trains in operation.
Hey guys rhanks for the responses, I will probably not be able to drag the wife on an train riDE this week, but I will be going to the Christmas store.
For reasons I do not understand my wife had our family go to that area twice. Can't speak of trains, put I would recommend going into the national park, and taking the cable car from Gatlinburg to Ober Gatlinburg, regardless of the price. On the way up, one rider asked a local what are those buildings on the ridge, his reply was "crimeshares", had a good laugh on that.
If your up for a trip over to Bryson City, N.C. there is a train shop/train ride etc over there

Never been but I use to live in Newport, TN is why I know of this.
Bill I'll is right about Bryson City. They have a huge O scale layout that is second to none. Plus they tons of O scale trains on display, it is well worth visiting.
