The two U terminals are common. The hot line for accessories is the B terminal. You're using the SC-2 as a simple switch here, so you'll wire it just like you'd wire an in-line switch.
so i can just run the wires from the 6-Position Dual-Row Barrier Strip to B and U on the transformer since there is no A and U

This is the back of the CW, the A and U are for the track, the B and U are for accessories.

Well, it would depend on the current draw of the accessory. For most Lionel accessories that don't have an excessively long wire run, #22 would probably work fine, for longer runs or higher current stuff, #18 would be a better choice.
What size spade would I need for a barrier strip
Any spade lug that fits the terminal strip. The current for virtually all accessories won't tax any spade lug that I've seen. 
Sometimes getting larger wire into the Fahnestock clips is a problem, you have to try it. In any case, #22 wire should be plenty for that accessory.
