It finally arrived...the Lionel Polar Railroad Hot Cocoa Car.  Lionel did a great job on this.  I love milk cars...I may pick up two more of these before next Winter.  It is a nice addition to the Polar Railroad line.  I can't wait to see what they do next.

Greg,

I do not have the K4.  I passed on that offering, but I am hoping to eventually get it on the secondary market or possibly a dealer blow-out sale.

The tanks were used to store the milk. In real life these cars were actually two glass-lined tanks (like thermos bottles) installed in a box car. The milk was pumped out when the car arrived at the dairy. Other milk cars were more like normal reefers and were used to transport those old-style milk cans like the Lionel operating milk car fires out onto the metal platform.

The problem I have with this "Polar Railroad" line is the use of the "Pennsylvania RR" "Keystone" logo. The I look at one and the first thing I think of is "Pennsy" NOT "Polar"! You would think that Lionel had someone smart enough in-house that could have come up with an original design logo for the "Polar RR"!

We ran my Polar Railroad K-4 here on the store layout all throughout the holidays without any problems and it is all 036 FasTrack. Awesome loco.

I like that they used the PRR keystone. Looking to double head it with a Pennsy K4 during the holidays on the club layout later this year.
