I picked up an operating boxcar and one truck is wobbly. I noted in my repair manual it shows a different truck mounting in that the truck has a nub and takes a clip to hold it in place. Mine, has a sort of a hollow sleeve with tabs. On the good truck I see only three tabs, while on the one in question there are three and one underneath. Should this fourth tab be inserted through so it can be bent over like the other three? Also is this normal, or should I re-truck with the other style? I'll attach pictures. Thanks.

Top photo is correct clip placement
Jeff: I've had some cars with those clips that were broken. Rather than replace them, I used screws with a wide head and nylon stop nuts tightened just enough to hold the truck in place and still allow it to turn freely. No more wobble.
You can probably find replacements for the real clip if you want to keep it original.

OK, thanks for the confirmation.

The "4th tab" you show on the underside should not be flattened out, but just slightly sprung out as shown in the picture of the clip above, and should be matched by a tab 180 degrees out.
Wow that is great. Thanks for the drawing and explanation. Now to find them if I need to.

Thanks for that tip. I'll keep it in mind.
