Check fuse on side
I had already read that thread but didnt find the answer. The fuse is ok, took it out and tested it. problem is the red LED stays on but no track power. I had just added my Christmas engine and was ready to hit start up when my wife accidently kicked the car over and possibly shorted the track momentarily. The web site troubleshooting and instruction book makes no mention whatsoever of the red track light !!
does anybody else have this problem ? Any ideas what the problem could be ?
Well - it's a new device - you're among a handful of people who have chimed in - for good or bad.
I have one sitting in front of me - but haven't set it up yet.
Looking at a manual - it says "Red when track is overloaded"
Also -
"Purple when track power and signals on"
"Off until a command is sent from the app"
Just turning mine on with no track connected - light is red - hope that's not bad!
Was able to connect to MTH network no problem with the app.
Further testing later.
my red track light remains on and the lock-on is disconnected from the track , even if I disconnect the lock-on the red traack light is still on but i9n either case no track power at all
Ok - mine had the red light on the first time I turned it on - trackless.
I set up a loop - and connected the lock-on - still red.
Fired up the App - I ran through the add loco dialog - and and first time it didn't find any locos
But then my red light turned purple. I swear I even heard a tiny click when it happened.
Ran the Add Loco dialog again and pow - loco found - vroom!
Not saying that's going to help everyone - lots of variables - but worth a shot.
Entirely possible this is normal operation.
Roving sign, that’s exactly what happened to me. Runs great now!
Sorry for your troubles.
So, the track LED will be on RED whenever the unit has power and is finished booting up. The track LED flashes RED for ~5 seconds when the track gets overloaded or shorted and then returns to steady on RED. When you issue any command to the track or an engine, power is restored to the track and the LED turns PURPLE. So, PURPLE = power on the track and ready to operate trains. RED = no power on track.
Looks like we added confusion with incorrect documentation on the Explorer and train set manuals. It incorrectly states the LED is off when initially powered up. We changed this behavior and the document didn't get updated.
