I just got a new R32 set off eBay and noticed the headlights and front signs did not light up. I took the shell off and checked all the wiring - everything loked fine. Still with the shell off, I tried to run it on the track but my DCS remote would not display it. If I place the car on the track with track power on, it will go into startup mode and the headlights and signs light up, and it will eventually start to move - the DCS remote will still not show it though. In order to stop it I have to pull the TIU power input for the track. Any thoughts as to what's going on?

What you've posted is not very helpful.
It would be much more helpful if you could state exactly what you try to do and exactly what happens, including what is displayed in the LED window of the DCS Remote.
I don't know what else to say - I thought I had detailed everything:
1. originall, DCS remote found and added R32
2. headlights and signs did not light
3. took shell off to check for wiring - checked out OK
4. placed car back on track without shell and DCS did not find it when I pressed "Read"
5. powered track and placed car on it - all lights lit up, sound was active as if in "Start Up" mode; eventually moved but could not be controlled by DCS remote as it could not find the car
6. DCS could find my other 3 subway sets (I have 4 tracks), but not the R32. I even added another engine to the same track and DCS found it, so it' s not the track
I think that covers everything - DCS can't find the R32, but does find all other engines. All the other trains show up on the DCS remote screen. No error messages as it never sees the R32.
sounds like a dead battery
Ben,
The one you need for the R32 is a 5 volt BCR-1
I believe you mean an 8.4 volt BCR for a 5 volt PS2 board.
Guys - thanks for the info. I purchased a Rayovac 9v NiMH rechargeable battery to replace the dead MTH battery. Will this battery work or do I have to purchase the BCR unit?

As long as the battery is 8.4 volt, not 7.2 volt, it should work fine.
Excellent, thanks for the help.
