I have two Lionel 180 powermasters feeding into my TIU, lately I have power issues. I tested both and one is putting out 11.7 volts and the second one 14.0 volts. What can be done to fix this problem?
Why are you using PowerMasters in front of the TIU? Sending chopped waveforms through the variable TIU channels is a bad idea. What is supplying the input power to the PowerMasters?
OK, those are PowerHouse transformers. If they're not putting out something close to 18 volts when measured with no load, they're broken! Top suspect would probably be the relay on the logic board or simply bad wire connections. Note that the transformer power goes through the relay and that's it. Frankly, I've never seen a PH180 give low voltage, only the proper voltage or no voltage.
