I'm in the process of building a trolley for my collection. The body, I created with my 3D printer, so I used a PS-1 board to power it. I'm looking for a possible part number (Digi key, Mouser, etc.) for LED's I can use with the blue/green board connection for my forward and reverse headlights. Most every other creation I've done, I've used A/C conversions with resistors, but I don't have anything that will work with the PS-1 blue/green connections? So, I'm guessing, 1.5 volt DC, but I never realized Digi-key would have so many to choose from! I happened to have the correct red and green LED's, but of course, I don't have any part numbers or stats with them! Thanks guys!

Well, you're pretty much out of luck. The operating voltage of white LED's is around 2.9-3.3 volts, they won't even have a glimmer at 1.5 volts.
MTH had a special board to add better headlights to some of their higher end PS/1 locomotives. This board used the 1.5V headlight as a control and actually powered the headlights with 6V from track power. Obviously, there was some logic and an opto-isolator on the board for compatibility with the PS/1 board.
If you want to light an LED with the 1.5V, you'll have to have some circuitry added to do the job.

UGH!!! Thanks GRJ!!! I knew you'd have the answer, now all I have to do is find one of the boards you described! Thank you again! -Joe
Well, I have two of the ones illustrated above. If they'll physically fit into your project, drop me an email and we'll arrange new ownership.
