Replies sorted oldest to newest

All were L1s, but not all were the same.  Initially, many still had oil headlamps and no power reverse.  In the mid-30s they started to get stokers.  They all had flangeless 2nd and 3rd drivers when built, but starting during WWII they got all flanged drivers over time.  Sometime after WWII, many got the much bigger, roomy doghouse (Lionel's model has the old claustrophobic doghouse).  After the L1s, all PRR steamers were superheated so the 's' was dropped.
