I installed the electronics from a PS-1 sound equipped boxcar into an 89' autorack. The most time consuming part of the job was the modifcation of truck with the magnet and sensor. In fact, both trucks were a bit of a pain because the orginal trucks on the autorack are like no other lionel roller bearing truck with which I was familiar. The Lionel powered roller bearing trucks both had to be modified, to fit on the weak threaded steel post pressed into the floor and I hacked off the lobster claw to install kadees. All in all I am pleased with the outcome. I really wish Lionel would make sound cars with Super Bass to really emulate the experience of a train rolling by you. For now this will do....
