What features can be utilized on conventional power with MTH PS-3 locomotives? I don’t presently have any MTH locos and wonder how they operate on conventional power. Interested in acquiring some if some of their sound features are available.

Many of the features are available conventionally as described in any PS3 user guide. Some example excerpts:

Of special note, the Lionel Legacy PowerMasters have these macros built in and so they are very accessible from the Lionel Legacy Remote via that route giving a very nice rich experience in my operations.

I run my PS3 locomotives on conventional at home; although I did preorder a WTFIU.
Thanks!

Thanks for the information. Sounds like it is no problem. Now to pick what I want!

Nice demonstration Mario. A video like this can be more helpful than words, 👍
In that case… here’s one of my daughter enjoying it, too. I’m using a TMCC Cab1 and Powermaster Bridge to control the track voltage, set to Track 1.
and this one, where I’m also using it to control a PS3-equipped 8-32BWH.
also… we had our train show this past weekend, the Great NY State Train Fair, and our DCS was not cooperating. So we ran the entire weekend using 2 MTH Z4000 controllers to conventionally run three tracks and a yard that was roughly 30x60!
so have no fear, and enjoy your PS3 trains in conventional control.
thanks!

PS- with PS3, once the train is on the track, bring the throttle up to about 10-12v, and wait. Wait for the lights to come on and sounds to start before doing anything. The electronics have to charge and start up. Also, if left like that for a few seconds, it will start to talk.

You can tell the start up time for the electronics in this video, and see just how long it takes for the crew talk to start. When changing direction, don’t shut the voltage all the way, just bring the loco to a stop and hit the direction button. This will keep the sounds continuous without starting and stopping. It’s a skill you’ll learn quickly.
thanks!
