Just an update but there was an issue with the processor board (appears to be a factory defect). The local hobby shop is waiting on parts from MTH to fix the issue. Should hopefully have them next week.
You realize MTH does not have AE-10 boards any more. So unless something has changed your in for a real long wait. Your board may be repairable at the component level, but some one knowledgeable in board repair needs to look at it. G
The information about the board problem was relayed second hand (tech told hobby shop, shop employee called me). Apparently the tech was able to order what was needed from MTH after talking to them. We'll see what happens.
Just to update this the repair was a relay on the processor board. Don at MTH guessed correctly. Apparently at speed shock or vibration was causing the relay to shut off power. The locomotive has been running fine with the replacement relay.
That's good, it's his job to guess right.
