A friend is having a problem with a PS2 engine which was working fine until recently. It has a 3 volt board. When placed on the track and 18 volts are applied, there is a click from the relay on the PS2 board and then a few seconds later the relay starts to chatter.  I charged the battery overnight which made no difference. I also checked the engine over for any loose connectors and pinched wires. Everything looks OK. 3 rail/2 rail switch is in the 3 rail position, tried the DCS polarity switch in both position but that didn't make any difference. The engine will not add to the remote, message says "no engine to add".

I tried it in conventional and had the same symptoms with the relay chattering.

Any suggestions as to what may be wrong would be appreciated. I'm afraid there is a problem with the PS2 board itself.
