Do the new PS3 engines drive the same MTH electro-couplers??

I have a brand new CR SD80MAC that I'm converting to 2 rail. As I'm fixing the pilots it occurred to me to try the Atlas scale electro couplers. This engine will be a pusher at times and I'd like the ability to drop out of the consist. They've worked for me before with the PS2 boards so if the PS3 uses the same components to drive their couplers, I'm hoping I may get lucky again? I expected to see a different electro coupler on the new models but they appear to be the same.

George,  I had a man have me do a DCS upgrade on his gold Hudson.  I kept the plated rear coupler on and spent some time playing with it to see if it would fire.  I found at between 9 to 13 volts on the track I could get it to fire with DCS.  Not a big price to pay to keep the plated coupler.  Any voltage around 18 and it would not fire.  This was a rare situation and the engine will be a shelf item.  I have a large box of PS-1 couplers if any member needs one.
