I don't understand what is happening. I just got 3 replacement PS3 diesel boards, AE-10000034. I installed one and it worked well. I set it aside for a week and changed nothing. Now it won't pick-up the DCS signal. I have 2 other brand new boards and the same thing. They start up in conventional, remote says no engine to add. Yes the DCS system is working fine, picks up other locos fine. I have not programmed them yet as the DCS system won't let me add them. The problems are in the boards, seeming just going bad at will. I don't understand why this is happening. Possible bad components on the new boards? Jon G, GGG, GRJ, and others, any idea, you input is welcomed.

Are the boards in a locomotive or do you have them on a board tester?
I don't have a board tester. One was installed in a diesel loco and work worked fine after install. A week later get a error message engine not found. The other 2 just tested by changing boards in loco, all now with engine not found error. I can't believe the boards are really defective, but DCS won't find them.
Chuck,
The solution would most probably be to send all three boards to a certified MTH Technician who has the ps3 board test assembly and have them test the boards independently.

Be sure you have continuity between pins 1&2, the ones opposite each other closest to the 8 pin harness. Also be sure those pins are not bent. And finally, wire routing over the caps is a must for the best DCS signal.
You guy's were right. There was no continuity between no. 1 and 2 on the 40 pin plug. As it turns out the DCC/DCS switch wires (#2 wire) the terminal was crimped to the wire, but only crimped to the plastic insulation. It was tight, but didn't crimp through to the wire its self. That was really frustrating to find, as the locomotive had worked before. It is on the same harness that has all the wire colors mixed up that we have talked about before. MTH must have a different builder putting these together as of lately.
