Last question on this thing--I promise. I am wiring 4 of these between my PH180 bricks and my TIUs. I want them to be manually reset. So I need to add a switch at J7 across pins 1 and 2. I was wanting to add a MOMENTARY pushbutton type from my parts stash. But I have several kinds of switches available and that got me confused.

My understanding is that the switch across pins 1 and 2 of J7 should be normally closed. When the button is pushed, that breaks the link between 1 and 2 which resets the PSX1. Then the button is released and the link is closed leaving the PSX1 active and ready to interrupt another short.

So that moment when I push the button, it breaks the connection between pins 1 and 2. That resets the PSX1. I release the button and the pins are connected again.

Is that what I want? The instructions make mention of using a SPST toggle switch. If that was used, and the toggle is in the closed position, flipping the switch leaves it open and the PSX1 resets BUT if the toggle is left open, then the PSX is in auto-reset mode so the toggle has to be manually flipped closed after the PSX1 resets. So that makes me think I don't want a toggle switch.

Is this right?

I'm sure you have already seen my diagram below.  I bought the lighted switch because it sounded like a good idea, but if I were to do it over I would have the reset function (J7) on a separate switch and the status light for the short circuit (J5) on a separate LED.  This way I can run the LED to a different location, or better yet multiple locations.

I have thought about using a SPST for J7.  You would flick the switch to off, then right back to on.  To me, that would be not big deal.  I think there are some that are spring loaded to the on position.

I have ordered a wireless relay that will go on one of the J7 wires so that I can reset it from anywhere in the train room.  You could also try that.
