Any tips on pressing the brass connector onto the armature shaft of the Lionel Pulmor motor. The brass connector is round nut like coupling with a pin protruding on each side. It connects the motor shaft to the drive shaft. If anyone has done this you know what I am describing.

What locomotive or accessory is this for, please?
It sounds like a universal joint. The armature needs to be removed from the motor. Ideally you would need an arbor press, but you may be able to use a drill press to get the part on. Wrap the top end of the armature shaft in a layer of tape, and hold the top end of the armature shaft in a drill press chuck. Place the brass joint on a flat surface under the end of the armature, and slowly lower the armature until it engages the brass joint and does not fall off when you lift the armature back up. Now remove the armature and close the chuck jaws all the way. Center the top of the armature shaft at the spot on the chuck where all 3 jaws meet, and lower the drill press quill until the armature and brass joint are in contact with the drill press table, and continue to apply pressure SLOWLY and see if you can press the brass joint home. If not, then open your drill press vise and use the jaws to press the joint home. Use a piece of brass or aluminum on the vise jaws to protect the shaft ends of the armature.
Work SLOW, and rotate the armature as you press the piece home so it does not go on crooked. Do not bend the armature shaft.
Don't even THINK about hammering it in place.....

Glad to hear that you got the part on. The key is to get it on straight, and without damaging the armature. Curious as to what loco/accessory this came from.
