I hooked up my dcs system on the christmas display that i use for functions.  The first thing i did was to hook an MTH Z-750 Brick to the Aux power for the TIU to which I got the Red Led on and it flashed 1 time. Second I hooked 2 MTH Z-1000 Bricks to the Tiu in the configuration of one brick for the Variable Channel and one Brick for the Fixed on the input side of the TIU. also I jumped the terminals from one channel to the the other.  Such as Variable one to Variable Two on the input side as well as putting jumpers on the Fixed one to Fixed Two on the input side.  The bricks were connected using MtH Barrel Jack Adapters except for the jumpers. on the output side I ran Banana Plugs from the TIU to each of the Four loops of Track. But when I turned the power strip on for the Bricks there was power to the tracks and one of my conventional engines took off. I tried everything i could think of and could not solve this issue so there fore I was forced to go down to single conventional control for the display.

I am hoping that someone may be able to tell me what I did Wrong or if there is a problem with My DCS System.

I purchased the System New in June of 2012 and it is a Revision L TIU Unit.

Thank you in advance

Bobbie

Are the 4 loops completely separately from each other? no switches connecting them?

The var channels shouldn't be getting power until address as a track UNLESS they've been set to fixed mode. Maybe try this one... Menu/system/ Dcs set up/ select the var channel and select FXD. The FXD key is like a toggle , each time you press it , the channel changes from fixed mode to var mode, from var to FXD, you get the pic.

The remote shopuld tell you which mode you've selected.

Bobbie,

You have to have your conventional engines on a variable channel to keep them from starting up. Don't set them to FIXED to run these. The Fixed channels will pass power through them as soon as the bricks are turned on.

You then run the variable channel with the remote to control the voltage to operate conventional by pressing the TR softkey on the remote.

Blonde Moment

Problem is solved I inadvertently hooked up the conventional track to the fixed output instead of the Variable output.  Unfortunately i did not figure this out till after the event but a good time was had by all.  The Staff at the Adult Basic Education here in Hinton West Virginia were elated and had me sign a release to be published in the local news paper.  As Soon as i get the Article I will scan and post it if there is a request for me to show it.
