Hi, just joined this forum a few minutes ago. I have no idea if I'm even the right spot for my question  I'm a complete novice, so perhaps someone can help.  I just bought a Lionel 6-51008 TMCC equipped Zephyr, which will run Command Control mode.  the train is a 2004 model.  I only want to use it as a static display, as part of an art deco theme.  That said,  I would still like to have lights, engine sound and smoke.  I was told I need a transformer such as a CW-80 or?  should I also get the CAB-1 remote with command? Someone else said just buy the MTH Z750?  or just the CAB-1 and a any small transformer?

Thank you any help is greatly appreciated

Keep in mind that you'll need to constantly refill the smoke as it only lasts 10 or so minutes.  After that, it'll be cooking the heating element and baking the wick.

You can use a variable transformer, but note that a TMCC engine starts up in forward when you apply power in conventional mode.

Nothing is so easy as the job you imagine someone else doing.
