Question on sound of PS2 3volt

How's the battery?   You know the test. sounds should  continue on for 6 or 7 seconds after track power is removed. I suppose the battery could also be factor in a lash-up  on how  well it performs.

Take shell off and make sure no pinched wires.  IF this does this frequently while running, it is an issue you need to resolve.  If this is only at start up, sounds like a battery issue.  G

Good morning G............This happens while running, I thought it was part of my lash-up problem, bur does this when running by itself, shutdown sounds seems to be normal.

You can always try a factory reset, but fluctuating sounds not normal.  So pinch wire, bad speaker, or something else.  G

Could be a faulty connection at the 2 pin connector.  Failing solder joint under the heat shrink too. G

Good evening G and GREGG      Well it looks like it is the battery. I changed that and now the sounds last after I take power off and much louder, Sounds are distorted when shutting down.  Didn't notice when part of lash-up. Everything looked good and tight under the hood didn't see any pinched wires. Speaker looked good no flaking looked like new. Checked the voltage on old battery it was 1.3,     on the new old stock battery was 2.4.  I must have loaned out my battery chargers because I can't find them. This is the first time I had to replace a battery in a 3 volt system, had this spare for years. I'll try in a MU tomorrow. Think I should buy better speakers for these SD40-2 I have six of them.

I'd be checking the speaker as well if the sound is distorted.  Even if it doesn't look bad, try a new one and see if that helps.

Thank you John......... Buying new speakers isn't easy anymore (no more stores). And I don't know what to look for, other than get the same old thing from MTH.    I would like to do better.

You have to do a couple of things.  Evaluate the space available, the diameter of the speaker and the height, then go looking for a 4 ohm speaker that is rated in the 3-7 watt range that's a higher quality speaker.

I buy virtually all of this kind of thing mail-order.
