I am getting ready to replace the non insulated wheel sets in my Weaver GP38-2. Does anybody know if P&D part number PDD 10019 has the same flange as the exhisting non insulated wheel sets? Thier site isnt really descriptive and Pat was out of the shop by the time I was free to call today from work. I am guessing they are as the next number is the non insulated wheel sets like I have. The P&D wheel sets set up for 2 rail operation have smaller flanges than the 3 rail Weaver ones. A little history might interest you. P&D purchased the Weaver components years ago for use in his EMD F3/F7/F9 kits. He also offered a version of the drive for powering/repowering Red Caboose GP9's. To address issues with spilt gears and sprockets in the Weaver horizontal drive diesels, Pat upgraded the materials (and possibly process) used in the manufacturing the gears and sprockets - problem solved..

So I need to order 4 insulated and 4 non insulated wheels then? Will they fit my stock axles? I have no gear issues, could have been changed at some point as the unit has been run by the previous owner. Mike
Perhaps a point of confusion - the P&D wheels come mounted to the geared excels. You only need 4 sets to equip a Geep.

You can get the wheels seperatly, but they will not fit on the original Weaver axles. I spoke to Pat and he let me know that I need to get the complete geared wheel/axle assembly. So 4 axle assemblys will be on order shortly. Mike
You need 4 insulated pairs (4 axles)
NWSL is another good option too.
