Good morning fellow OGR Forum members: (it's Monday morning here in Australia)

I have just purchased (on evilbay) an original MTH Protosound Reset Chip Kit (50-1023), with the special extraction tool, but minus the replacement battery it comes with (don't need anymore batteries anyway - BCR's rule!!)

Can this chip be used over and over again to hopefully restore "scrambled" chips on the PS1 boards, or is it a "once only" use, and to be discarded after the initial use?

I have a large number of MTH PS1 loco's, and if anything should go wrong with them (heaven forbid), I am all on my own here, "down under" in Australia.

There are no MTH dealers here, nor, to the best of my knowledge, anyone who has spare parts or could possibly even repair them (ever think about relocating to sunny Queensland Australia Gunrunner John????). Midge was a great help to me "back in the day", but that is all over now, and getting MTH spare parts delivered to Australia is just a pipe dream.

Have I purchased a "one of use" kit????

Thanks Gunrunner.

Made me smile when I read your reply about "a bridge too far".

My wife and I were in New Orleans a couple of years ago on holidays. Because of the distance when we travel overseas from Australia (usually America or Europe) we normally stay for the full length of the entry visa - 3 months.

We get a rental car (Alamo) at the airport in Los Angles- unlimited miles - what could be better, and head-of into the wild blue yonder. Anyway we had just arrived in New Orleans (1 year after "Katrina") and the little receptionist at the motel was horrified when she saw us drive into the car park.

She honestly thought we had driven all the way from Australia!!!!

I had to explain to her that they hadn't "finished building the bridge yet"!!! You get to meet some "interesting" people when you travel, but I must say you Americans sure make us feel right at home when we are over there. Can't wait to get back once our Australian government allows us to travel internationally again......maybe in 2022.

Buco,  that's a great story!

I lived in the mid and deep South my whole life, and part of the charm of the South, is that folks open up to you very very quickly, and you hear some really funny stories and comments.

Many people I know, who are quite well off, including my son, tell me that they want to retire in Australia or New Zealand, but they are stunned to find out that they can't, because they don't have enough "points" to get in.

Glad to hear that there are train folks down there.
