Qustions on operation of MTH GE Evo and baggage car

My GE Evo loco and baggage car have been on the layout for two weeks.

Two issues:

1. After extended start up, when I slowly ramp up thumb wheel, when it gets to 4 MPH, the loco jerks forward and then slows down. This is my only MTH loco that does this. Is this related to 3.0 or is something wrong?

2. on the baggage car, one coupler opens at random (I thought only MPC couplers did this). Is there a way to fix this?
