Hey guys, I've started a running blog over on the A&O website about my attempt to make a MTH American rail crane into a 2 rail self propelled model.  I'm using a Stanton S-CAB system including battery power, so this project can run anywhere!  You can follow the play by play at;

I can hear the dispatcher now... Coal extra power 3126, you will be waiting in the hole till a MOW crane clears ahead of you.  Oh and he's topped out at ten MPH!

Hey Old Goat, I haven't gotten far enough along yet to shoot any video.  When I get finished with the basic set up, I will see what I can do.

Matt, the SoundTraxx decoder does indeed operate the Stanton drive.  There is a "mode" switch that allows me to select between conventional DCC through the track or R/C control.  Both methods of control are DCC and use the decoder.  I've added some more pictures to the A&O page here:
