Met an older gentleman today at his repair shop in Wake Forest, NC who specializes in repairing old radios(pre-WWII), old TVs(50s) and old phonographs. My dad use to repair TVs & vcrs. He has a lot of vacuum tubes. I bet that shop you were in has tubes everywhere.
I used to do old radios as a hobby. Tons of tubes and a few radios I'll most likely never get around to repairing. Just don't have the time anymore.
That is really cool. I have a few old vacuum tube radios that I've tinkered with until they worked.
I have some old radios, a 1930's cathedral radio, and I even have a portable radio from the early 50's. I used to have more of them, but I dispensed with a few after I got them working.
