Hi guys.

I'm just curious what some of you guys are running for track layout. I'm running all modern on my layout.

When running AM sd60 in a lash up, they are really close to rubbing because of the short draw bars on my tightest curve. This curve measures about 54" from center of rail to center of rail.

I start confusing myself sometimes when I think about 36" radius. Is radius considered diameter or half of total diameter??? I've gotten different answers.

Also, does anyone know what's recommended in a curve radius on a SD70 or ES44 with the pilots fixed?

I put kadee couplers on, but haven't made the pilots stationary yet.

Rusty, I hoping you can give me some info as I know you have ran a few SD70 on your layout.

Thanks guys!

Depending on where you are going with Your Hobby, say running the larger articulated locomotives, not Lionmaster, but the longer wheelbase Locomotives, I use 072 as my minimum circle, 081-091-099-0120...The larger the diameters, the better the Locomotives look on the track.  Actually O Scale looks good at 0120 and up curves....SD70's, SD60's, ES44's, and AC6000's look better in 072 and wider. If one is considering a permanent layout, plan for the very widest curves possible and then you can run almost any equipment you want....Track is the leading factor to Fun in the Hobby......Good Luck...IMG_8516IMG_1775IMG_7765IMG_0073IMG_7823

I have a couple of older American Flyer engines that I run on 42 inch curves in A.F. 2 rail track. Have found that the larger the engine the larger the curve size, I am not running anything too large, my largest is a 4-6-2 steam engine.

I bought some smaller diameter A.F. track at a hobby shop one time and it was a disaster because the track pins quit staying in place and the track sections broke near the ends of the tracks. I think it was 30 inch diameter track from A.F.
