@Mark Boyce posted:Rich, That Elkins station had been restored beautifully, for sure. I would like to have built the O scale model of it, but I just donβt have the room.
Bob, Endless Tracks, I have never see a dump truck on the rails of the B&O, B&P, Bessemer, or CN in my area. Lots of pickups and other work trucks though. Thank you for the photographs
Mark, there are a few in the area. I'm not sure that NS rosters any (they seem to rely on GREX ballast trains for the most part) but I know that the Port Authority of Allegheny County (or I guess Pittsburgh Regional Transit) rosters some for its light rail and busway maintenance. I'm not sure if the dump bodies rotate, that's new to me!
Today's other video is a short clip from my summer trip to the Pan Am Railways yard in East Deerfield, MA. An unusually early EDPO was on duty, and had some very colorful power on the head end.
Very nice, Dan!
From Lee's pictures it looks as if BNSF is leasing lots of power.

Not "leasing". Those are just "power sharing" units running through.
Erik, great photo of your son, as well as the trains!
Dan Weinhold
Thanks HW!
Erik great day with your son and great photos too.
A few more recent ones of mine -
Christopher do you remember where you took the shot of the "D" train? I used to ride the north end of it quite often.
It's moving weekend....
The LIRR bridge project has reached the point where it's time to swap out the old girder bridge for the new. The existing bridge has been lifted 3 1/2 feet over the past month and is ready to go. The new clearance will be 14' 0" from 10' 6" before.
The contractor set the crawlers in place yesterday. Some really neat toys for sure.
The new pre-cast piers will be set in place after the old bridge and temporary steel supports are removed.
I love the F-unit in the company logo......

Sure looks like some new toys and a project area could be modeled on the layouts Bob. ( not trying to make more work and lighter wallets for anyone !!! )
Nice photos.
Bob, that is an impressive project you are watching unfold! Dallas has a great point about another point of interest for anyone to model.
@Dallas Joseph @Mark Boyce- yes it would be a neat scene to model.
I got a few more photos this afternoon with the light on the other side. I happened to be first in line at the traffic light this time too.

Another summer trip video, this time featuring some CN, CP and VIA action at Dorval in Quebec. I managed to get both of the HEP-equipped Budd cars used on the Montreal-Toronto-Windsor corridor trains, though the day was a bit windy.
Going Wild with Fisheye Lens Photography β’ Downtown Royal Oak, Michigan
March 15, 2023 - This rail-fanning trip is to Downtown Royal Oak. It is a warm sunny day and I am using an ultra wide angle lens. Royal Oak has a very upscale downtown with a lot of stores and restaurants. Letβs explore the trackside buildings in downtown and the main line for the CN Railroad & Amtrak.
Rail-fanning photography need not be βPlumb Bob & Squareβ, go wild with a 360Β° ultra fisheye lens.
Thanks for taking a look. Hope to see you out rail-fanning: Gary π

Spent 1970 at Fort Hood Don. Loved that state. Had snow only 1 day ......grass stayed green though .
One of our local news channels did a short piece on the bridge swap out. (I know, I didn't take it.....)
I spotted a little faded glory in Naperville this morning. Santa Fe Warbonnet Leader! BNSF 654 ATSF Warbonnet C44-9W

Wow, struck 20 times in a relatively short period of time! The L I Double R! How far do you live from this bridge? Thank you for the link, Bob!
@Dallas Joseph- Well Dallas glad you have experienced Ft Hood. Unfortunately in our close friends circle Ft Hood is not popular. The family of dear friends was forced off their ranch at the start of WW 2 and the land was taken over by the Army to form part of what is now Ft Hood. To this day the family members and their descendants have special passes that allow them into the grounds to visit and maintain a family cemetery that was on their ranch.
Best wishes
Don

Spent 1965 & 1966 at Fort Hood (Headquarters, Division Artillery, 2nd Armored Division), and although it didn't ever snow, it was one of the few places I've ever been where one could be standing in mud halfway to your knees, and have dust blowing in your face! The town of Keleen wasn't much either.
Returned back to work with EMD on January 2, 1967. Never went back to that part of Texas.
@Hot Water - Well you would not recognize Kileen today, 50 some years after your tour. It is a major business and shopping area served by significant highway infrastructure including an Interstate freeway. It even has a full up commercial airport. It also has (which I know by experience) a HUGE BX and Commissary as well as medical facilities and a significant Reserve and Veteran services facility. So you should come back sometime...even with the mud and dust.
Best Wishes
Don

I pass under it twice a day back and fourth to work over the past 26 years. I've seen my share of can opener jobs. The worst was a brand new CAT excavator with the cab ripped off. π€―
Gonna miss the weekly adventures. π

Fresh off the press, about 9:30PM tonight (Wednesday the 5th) in Bellows Falls, Vermont. The Pan AM Southern train with ONE car is holding the main heading north while another engine approached from the north. Never did see the second train, but I thought the headlight through the fog was rather timely!
Took these yesterday:

Was in grapevine TX last weekend. Saw the grapevine vintage Railroad tie up for the night. With a little schmoozing of the staff and engineer Pete I was able to get a tour of one of their ex New Haven FL9's. Here are my son and I in the cab . Built in 1960, one of the last EMD FL9's made, 1800 horsepower, rebuilt by Norfolk Southern at Altoona PA with a 16-645 prime mover and HEP for the passenger cars.
Hope you like them.
Bill, Excellent opportunity and great photographs!!
