OK. Need som ehelp. Bought the above at an auction. Put it on the track power is on and it just hummmmmms. No response to anything. Opened the tender, put in a new battery (that was not installed) hummed again and then some smoke form one of the board components (see below).  (See last pic circled). Any ideas or any replacement boards out there? This is a great engine.20230210_10285120230210_10235320230210_10240820230210_10250020230210_10255320230210_102851 B

Marty,

MTH still sells them.

Check out mthpartsandsales.com.

After you get it fixed power-up should be easy.  Remember though that PS1's, even when working perfectly, are frequently very finnicky as you try to get them rolling once they're powered up.

There are many, many, many, many threads here on the forum about the process.

The component circled looks like a transistor. I have an old PS1 diesel that burned up in also. GRJ and some other nice forum members, helped me order this part: Mouser IRF9510PFB. I believe they said this part handles more voltage than the factory part. I was able to solder it in, and it has worked perfect for many years. My post from 10/31/19 "PS1 transistor" if you want to read it. I ordered two, so I would be glad to give/send the extra to you. Let me know.

Good luck,

Chris
