"Lionel has just announced that “due to raw materials shortages”, the following LionScale items will not be produced as part of the 2021 catalog: 1942170, 1942180, 1942190, 1942200, 1942210. These product numbers encompass the Union Pacific Vision Line Challenger Double Door Boxcar six-packs."

I have always thought there were plenty of plastic pellets available, both new, and recycled. What else could they be lacking?

There are no Vision Line Challengers nor LionScale items in the 2021 catalogue.
And its not April Fools day yet, so what are you talking about?

Most plastics are being diverted for COVID supplies.
We purchase a lot of plastics for covid product mfg.
Our suppliers’ pricing just increased, significantly, last week on many raw products.
Thus it could be that the original retail price of the cars can’t support the material cost increase.

Well, I've got UP coal hoppers from MTH I bought ages ago that I can use with my Challenger.
Bummer!! I hope they figure this out.
I was excited by the offering since these Weaver based cars are the only ones (non-brass) offered that are even close to prototypical.
Good thing I just picked up three of the Weaver O Union Pacific 40' DD Express cars on the bay for $25 a piece. These are cars from the same Weaver tooling the Lionscale are made off of......and, they're already 2-railed too!
Lionscale hasn't offered the late forties TTG ones yet, but I got a couple of them as well, plus bids on two more....
I planned to add some allied full cushioned trucks and renumber a couple to the 9209-9219 series...
Mr Muffins website list a bunch of Lionel accessories also recently canceled.
