For those of you who bemoan the fact that your toy trains are made in China (or from other Asian sources) rather than the U.S., you're sure to enjoy this:
The Springfield MA plant will be built along the CSX, ex-Conrail, - ex-B&A mainline so deliveries can be made by rail. That's a great modelling idea, a building for construction of transit vehicles and a line (or loop) to test them. Therefore you can have rapid transit without a city.
Well the Japanese Co. Nippon Sharyo based out of Rochelle, IL. has been building bi-level commuter cars for various public transportation entities for years now...I can't help but think that Federal Funds are being spent for part of them.
