I won an auction for a 3R version, planned to 2R this with NWSL wheels. Upon disassembly found a sheet steel frame steel truck supports, and extra steel weights (and a cube with a QSI sticker on it mounted to the circuit board!)....much nicer than the plastic frame on my 2R that I bought 20 years ago. Can anyone say if this different construction is standard from the factory; it seems like it must be. Thanks-

Mike Sayre

I have had at various times 8 kits in my possession.   I have built two.   I have seen a bunch at shows.    In every case the hood was a one piece casting, no separate panels for conversion to GP9.

However, the P&D F-unit kits were done with seperate panels to make F3s, F7, or F9s in different versions.    The kits did not come with all the parts though, you  had to buy the specific kit you wanted.    You could change it however by buying different fan panels and grill panels.
