I have my dcs remote set to shut down in 60 minutes.  Ok, why when once I start the train in the record mode does it shut down right away when I lay it on the layout next to the track. Doesn;t do it any other place.  I know smart people will say don't lay it down there but that is where it is convenient for me to but it while it is running itself in recording mode.

Check the battery cover.  I have to put an additional piece of foam in all of mine to keep them from powering down.  I think if you plop it a bit harder in another location, you'll see that it shuts down there as well.  When you put it down, the battery slip out of position.

Try this.  VERY GENTLY put it down in the problem spot.  I'll bet it doesn't power down.

You are right.  I put carboard shims on each side of all batterys and the sides so they could not move and no more shut down.  The long life energizers must be slighty smaller and need extra shimming.  thanks for the help.  Also I got my new proto 3 sp gs4 back after being in repair  for 2 months and now it works except when it gets to 42 smph it quits chuffing and will restart after you drop the speed.  chuff set a 4 chuffs per rev. what next.  All my legacy engines work fine and have since I got the 1st one the up 844.  Mth is off my list.

Thank you Joe, that did it, now it runs all correctly.  How it got in that mode I ddo not have a clue.  When it was in mth for repair they must have tried many things and did not take them out.  I am still learning much in the past day and it is all thanks to you guys on this fourm.\

PS do you guys have to log in everytime you want to post on the fourm.  I do and never did before.  It wants my email and all I do is put the 1st letter of email and it all fills itself out and I;m in.  Is that something new?
