How to remove broken plastic bell from Amtrak Switcher?

Have new part but unsure how to remove broken part

I have done the following on Lionel #6220 shells, remove the shell frm the frame, using a small punch type tool or an awl, tap out the broken piece from the inside of the shell, the old piece will pop out and install new piece. Could even use a small flat blade screwdriver as long as what ever you use is slightly smaller than the hole the bell is in...
