I have a Lionel Crane set 6-29876 and I'm looking for someone to repair it for me. I have heard that Burk has done repair on these, but I need his email address or another way to speak with him about it. Also is there anyone else on the forum who has worked on these cranes to repair them. I picked the crane up and the top came off the chassis. I have all the drawings from Lionel I will send with the crane.  Thanks Gary

Pat,

I sent him my Visionline Challenger about 6 months ago and I still waiting for its return. I just sent him an email and he's in Florida until next year, so I don't know when I'll get my Challenger back. As for the crane he's worked on it before this it separated from the chassis, and I have no experience working on these things.

Gary, this ain’t the place to air out your laundry, ……that’s between you & Alex off line, ….

Pat

Pat, I didn't want anyone to think I'm bad-mouthing Alex the Challenger had some real problems and that why it has taken him so long to work on it and I told him I'm not in a hurry to get it back. I also know we all need to get away, so I don't have any problems with Alex, I emailed him today and I'll speak with him when he gets back after Christmas. I didn't mean to offend anyone on this site.

That’s fine, ….I seen first hand what happened to that Challenger, ….it was a total disaster area inside!….AMOF, Alex had to contract me to fix the drive block that was completely knocked out of quarter,….( not by Alex’s hand ) ……it’s gonna take some time to resurrect that locomotive, but bit by bit, Alex will save it!…..thankfully, you have Alex on your side, …..cause if it not, you’d have a 12-1300 dollar paper weight …..staring at ya!….😉

Pat

Like I said above Gary. If it's quicker turnaround your looking for. I'm sure Bruk is backlogged as well.

There's another Gary on this forum that has sent him several locomotives alone, for upgrades.

Both of those guys were fairly regular posters on the forum. We hardly hear from them anymore because they're  tied up fixing/upgrading our trains.

If Alex is in Florida.  I hope he's taking a well deserved vacation.

On a side note. With all due repect. What's going on with your trains? Crane separating from the chassis, drive block knocked out of quarter..

Is your layout on a flight of stairs?😉

Since Gary wants this to be public notice maybe i should tell Everyone what’s really going on !!!!!   The two items he has sent me were a TMCC crane and a challenger, both were absolute disasters inside. I was able to repair the crane but this challenger was the absolute worse engine I’ve ever seen since I’m in the repair business.
I was told by him, that he opened up the shell and only touched one wire, the truth is when I opened it up every wire was a MESS. There was frayed wires , burnt wires , unattached wires , plus the lower carriers wouldn’t spin.
Pat saw this with his own eyes , once he he revived it he couldn’t believe what this engine looked like.
If you know me I’m not one to air out anyone in public , but Gary went too far. Since I have this mess of an engine , his words were “ i don’t care how Long you have it , even if it takes a year. I just want it to run again. For the last 6 months that’s all he does is call me and email me every month. Guess he expects one guy who repairs tons of trains to repair an engine that realty belongs in the garbage within a few days.
The engine is so bad all the electronics need to be ripped out and the only way to save it is with all new parts which aren’t available anymore. So the only solution is to install an RCMC in it. Guess he thinks this all takes a few days.
I spoken to him on the phone a minimum of 5 times , yet when he leaves me a voicemail he’s says he’s never spoken to me on the phone before.
He doesn’t realize how hard this work is to do, according to him he says he’s on a tight budget , but yet he’s told me he owns many many engines , how about enjoy the many engines you have and wait until I finish the Challenger. I’ve been in many different hobbies in my time , for some reason it’s hard in this hobby for a few customers to wait. I’ve never understood that. Needless to say once his engine is done , I will never work on anything for him anymore. Good luck to the next repair guy.
Sorry to rant like this , but I don’t liked to be backed into a corner , after all I do for customers!!! I had ENOUGH !!!!!!

First I’d like to say thanks to Gary for letting everyone know where I’m at lol. Florida is beautiful lol , guess I’m not entitled to take a break after tirelessly working on trains nine hours per day, all year round,

Second I’d like to know what goes on with his items too!! This Challenger was a disaster when I opened it up , I also found out a few other repair guys told me they’ve had this challenger in the past and it was horrible inside.
What I found even funnier was the coal on the tender. Guess he added coal to it and it was about 3 inches high. It was so high it went over the roof of the engine.
What a job the fireman had to shovel coal LOL.
Alex

Alex,

I'm not trying to say anything bad about you and what you do. I really do appreciate the work you have done for me and yes you do deserve a vacation when you work ask much as you do. I hope you'll accept my sincere apology all I was looking for was someone to fix my mistake on the crane I had no intention on saying anything bad about you. You did a great job fixing the crane that I screwed up this time. I was trying to find someone else to fix the crane because I know how busy you are. Again, I'm sorry that you feel the way you do. Sorry I just want you to enjoy your vacation, and this is something you didn't need. Again, I'm sorry.

Gary
