MWB, is spot on here.  I would recommend going to the NWSL website and studying their axle/wheel set section.  Lots of valuable information to be had.  They explain the various diameters, lengths, wheel widths, axle ends, etc.  I'm not saying you have to purchase their products, just study their documentation.  I would provide a link but they're not a sponsor so I'd probably get in trouble with the powers that be.  A simple search of NWSL should get you there.
