I received this email a short time ago. My prayers are with his wife Amy and the family. I met Roger through this Forum and his love for this hobby. May God rest his soul.

"In honor of Roger’s request, we are sorry to send this email and inform you he lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) yesterday.  Roger battled for more than two years as he dealt with this devastating disease.  More recently over the past year, much of his communication with friends and family was done through email and we thank everyone for their continued encouragement, support, and prayers.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 31 @ 11:00 at Ox Hill Baptist Church, 4101 Elmwood Street, Chantilly, VA 20115.  Family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00. There will be no interment service.  We are working on plans for a reception following the service, more information to come.

In lieu of flowers, we'd like to request donations be made to The ALS Association in Roger’s memory.

God bless Roger and my prayers go out for you and your family. Hang in there Amy this is a terrible thing to go through but be assured that though the loss may always be with you, the pain will soon be filled with all the happy memories you have made together.

Good Luck,

Mario

Rest in peace Roger.  My sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers to his family and friends.

My mom and her sister, the 2 youngest of 8 children, died of this horrid disease some 30 plus years ago.  It is a tragedy to watch and there is a certain relief that this awful disease is at an end in someone you love dearly.

Just received the news from Amy, also.

Met Roger at the Wednesday night DCS users meeting. He was quick to tell you of the advantages of solid rail Atlas track, and loved his Santa Fe F3 set.

He was building his dream layout on the upper level of his home in NC when this dreaded disease struck. Eventually he was unable to go upstairs to work on the layout.

Amy being a train wife, God Bless Her, made room on the first floor so Roger could have a layout that he could get to.

I will miss him
