That was interesting what you said about the prime mover sounds not being loud enough. They should of put in volume control knob. In my case I unplugged the sound board as it was too loud and could heard 2 rooms away. Another note is that when you cut power to change directions, sounds stop then starts again. Nice thing about the revamped board, just like the previous 6amp board it also has a slave function built into it.
Your review is just fine and I enjoyed it. Very well done. Anything Chessie-related is aces high in my book.
Do you have any interest in the Lionel LEGACY Chesapeake & Ohio GP30s when they arrive? I thought they would be out by now.
Thanks catnap! Yes i am i may get one in the chessie. I know its slow getting product out.

Thanks Gary!
Thanks Nick and Your welcome!
I have a NYC from the first run and like it. I have the same complaint, no volume control. One of their Reps at York says it does but I have never been able to find it.
Jim it does have a volume on the sound board but very hard to get to and if you don't watch the pot will strip off then you can't turn it up or down. Jim here is a true blast plus picture with red circle where the volume pot is.

Interesting and to the point review. Would have liked to hear it and see it run.
Paul here is a video of it running!
OK thanks for the pic, I see the pot.

That's great it is on the sound board. I saw it but didn't realize the adjusted the volume. I assume you have adjusted the sound, but the volume control knob needs to be accessible from the outside not having to take the shell off. That would have been the smart thing to do. Also if you wire the can motors in series. The prim mover sounds will be smoother. Like the videos. there have been a few threads on the subject but your the first to do a video.
Good review, Jeff.
Thanks Matt and Your welcome Jim! I agree suzukovich the volume control should be on the outside and i will not series wire my engine because it runs fine without doing it.
Hi Jeff,
Great review, thanks for posting

Thanks Alex!
I'm a "close to scale" guy and have seen the GP30 in operation only once. The detail looks GREAT, but from what I have heard, the True Blast leaves a lot to be desired.
The one time that I saw it run, the horn only operated as a crossing warning, 2 longs, 1 short and 1 long. It appeared to me that there was no way to control the horn such as 2 shorts, or 2 longs, or even a single blast.
I don't know if my Legacy remote or my DCS remote can control the horn and bell at will.
I would like to pick one of these up, but I prefer TMCC/Legacy. Thought about upgrading one with ERR Cruise and sound, but that's adding more to the cost.
Any thoughts?

Ray this engine has true blast plus not the true blast 2 and this engine is scale and not sure if you can run it with lionel or dcs remote maybe you can if you get a legacy bridge to run it conventional and dcs TIU.
