Andre from River Leaf Models just sent me this kit and I wanted to let everybody here know how nice it is.  Andre has always produced some very nice brass details and has decided to start producing these craftsman kits.  They consist of laser cut MDF wall panels, basswood windows and doors.

The brick and window detail is very nice.  Andre also includes some very nicely detailed accent items.

Within 20 minutes I had the basic structure assembled.

I painted the interior walls next.

Andre left the window cutouts with the walls and I thought it would be cool to use them as a re-brick for a window.

In a couple hours I was able to get this far.

I think I will be able to finish this kit in another afternoon.  The fit and finish are excellent and it is very easy to get great results in a short period of time.  I will keep posting photos as I complete the kit.

Please give Andre a call and try some of his kits.  They look great and are a joy to assemble.

Thanks for looking,

Dave

I guess I am a little late to the party-

I have purchased 8 different buildings from Andre over the past 5 or so months. All came well packaged, complete & easy to put together. The mortar lines were nice and easy to highlight. He also does a very nice job on custom work, as well as working through the design process. I am looking forward to posting some photos of our original brick building, which Andre laser etched the name into the window sometime next week.

There was no sanding, no clamping, and the tolerances were so close, I installed the windows without glue. I actually painted them in place once there were in the casing.

The trick for no haze on the brick is using joint compound and damp cloth or paper towel and each wipe over  use a clean towel or cloth . Let dry overnite and then a clean damp cloth a final time . Now tone down the white by lightly spray dullcote over the finished  piece . When dry , take some chalk powder the color the brick and go over the entire piece , blow off excess and spray another coat of dullcote

Andre,

Have you considered building some freight car kits? Seems like Dover's style cabooses are in demand here on the forum, and no one currently produces one in wood. Obviously one would need to come up with their own trucks (or maybe not, knowing your skills.), and couplers. Seems to me that if they could be constructed with a semi-modular kit, they would be a great seller. I know I would purchase one.

Thank you.

Lee, my idea is make building that can fit in a very reduce space without sacrifice the balance and details on them.

I'll be glad to assist you.

Andre.
