Over the last several Christmases, I've been running only my newer Legacy engines around the Christmas tree.  This year, I also want to run my PW F3 over the same track, which is powered by a PW ZW.

Is is possible to command the F3 through the Cab1? Or should I just disconnect the Cab1 from the system, and run the F3 directly "old school" with the ZW?

My primary concern is avoiding frying the electronics of the Cab1. (And, of course, the F3.)

Thanks for any feedback. Merry Christmas!

You would need to add a legacy powermaster between the zw terminals and the loop of track being powered by that handle

the powermaster would then allow you to set that zw handle at max power and then use the legacy remote to regulate how much of that power is sent to the track for conventional locos.

if you want that ability on all 4 zw handles, you’d need 4 powermasters.

 Just re-read your post.

if you are using an original cab-1 and command base, you might need the original (non legacy) powermaster.

someone else here can verify
