I have only been attending York the past 3 years or so, but I have managed to come away each time with an unusual item or bargain priced S-gauge piece that I would not otherwise have found and that made the trip worthwhile.  This time I said I was NOT going to bring home any more projects, and then I found this American Hi-Rail Milwaukee Road Hiawatha engine kit.  The resin castings are perfect and it appears to have all the hardware and decals/stickers that it originally came with. It has been on my wish list for 30+ years.  Naturally I couldn’t resist.

Let's see what cool stuff you found at York this spring!

I've seen a few of these come up for sale over the years, all on eBay.  One completed 4-6-2 version sold for $228.50 this past April.  A completed Atlantic version sold in January 2015 for $283.00.  A kit identical to mine sold in June 2015 for $189.99 buy-it-now.  But the humdinger was a completed Atlantic version that sold in September 2013 for $555.50.

All were far too pricey for me at the time.  I just feel fortunate to have gotten this one.

Saw this Thursday on my first pass thru the purple hall and hoped it would be gone by Friday. Brand new, $250! Although I do not model in the modern era, it barked at me as a good deal. On my first Friday pass it was still there (****) along with a few other versions with varied prices. Held off again hoping the "you snooze you lose" factoid would come true. Second pass and it was still there.....oh well!
