Um...NO. This EL SD40 [ Lionel 6-18202] is oversized. Only SD40's recently done in the past half decade are scale and have the kinecamatic coupler.

The oversize is due to the use of the 6 wheeled Pulmore motor truck.

Scale SD40's use can motors.
