Just a quick review on 2 new add-on cars for the Mystery Machine set.

First time I ever had to put a battery in an operating car (birthday sounds car).  Not sure if that is new or Lionel did that in the past, but seems they could of just used roller pickups to power it.  Enjoy!

OK.  So THIS  time I saw your YouTube link before wading in with a stupid comment.

Good review ... I very much enjoyed it and I appreciate the effort!!!!

Lionel has used the 9-volt battery in sound cars since the '90s.  I think constant voltage is required @9v for the sounds to operate.  One of our Forum EEs might want to also comment on a more technical level.

Personally I would think Gunrunnerjohn's your last battery could replace the 9v.  I saw these on the Halloween car.  The battery really doesn't fit well.  I suspect unlike Sean most folks will try to put the battery in through the door.  It doesn't fit that way.  At the LHS we demo'd one and just set the battery in on the floor to the side of the clip.  FWIW the instructions show the battery clip at an angle which if it was would work.

The wires are really short on this one so the battery has to go horizontally in the clip, but it does fit if centered exactly.  The shell comes off super easy.  It’s not a big deal.  Just thought it would have been nice to have track power for the price, just because sometimes cars sit for long time and should take out battery in case it leaks.  But it’s fine.

I agree 100% but on another note the sounds are crisp and clean.  On the Halloween one there were a pretty OK assortment.

You'd have to add pickup rollers to be able to use Gunrunnerjohn's YLB (Your Last Battery).

Yep.
