When I shut off the power the shutdown sequence doesn't happen any more it just shuts down with a little fart . Is this the battery

Sure sounds like it to me. What model is it? any other problems?
I'm finally thinking of replacing the batteries with the caps. They have served well but seem to add problems. I finally bought a charger to see if I can get used to using it. I think I'd prefer the caps now.
No other problems with it runs great . Its the imperial model

Oops, sorry I didn't get back sooner. I should have said a BCR or BCR2 for newer PS2 engines. It replaces the battery for eliminating charging problems. It charges up in a few seconds.
