I recently purchased a Lionel Legacy, Western Maryland Shay rated for track 0-31. It ran beautifully on my 0-31 tubular track without any rolling stock attached.  As soon as I attached one car and it went into a curve it jump the track.  There was binding between the two frames.  I tried it with different cars.  Same problem. The engine is rated correctly, but I'm sure most folks one like to hook up a few of the post-war log cars to make this one special consist.  Unfortunately, I only have 0-31.  My LHS, MB Kleins in Maryland graciously took it back and gave me full credit.  They were unaware of this issue.  Has any one else had this problem?  I think Lionel should have posted this problem in the catalog or just not rated it at 0-31.

Yep, sure did!  And mine was with O36 track, not O31, and using Industrial Rail log cars.  It may track properly on tight curves with certain types of cars, depending on how the car's coupler is mounted and the coupler shank length, but I have not yet tried it with other rolling stock.  At the moment it resides in a display case.
